Want to target some of the tastiest fish in the lake? Captain Brandon's half-day crappie trips are built for anglers who know what they want – whether you're bringing the kids for their first real fishing adventure or you're a seasoned pro looking to learn new techniques. This isn't your typical "throw a line and hope" kind of trip. We're talking strategic, targeted fishing using some of the best electronics and gear on the water. With room for up to 3 anglers and fish cleaning included, it's everything you need for a solid day chasing slabs.
This trip runs about half a day, which gives us plenty of time to locate schools and put you on fish without wearing everyone out. Perfect timing for families with younger kids or anyone who wants to be back on shore by afternoon. Captain Brandon keeps it relaxed but focused – we're here to catch crappie, and he knows exactly where to find them. Bring your cooler and whatever drinks you like because we provide everything else you need. The boat's comfortable, equipped with all the safety gear, and designed to handle different mobility needs. If someone in your group uses a wheelchair or has other accessibility concerns, just let Brandon know ahead of time and he'll make sure everyone's secure and comfortable.
Here's where things get interesting. We're running top-shelf equipment that most weekend anglers never get to use. The boat's rigged with Solix 15 and Garmin 122sv PanOptics LiveScope electronics – basically underwater cameras that let you watch fish in real-time. Brandon will show you exactly what you're looking at on the screen and teach you how to drop your bait right into the school. We're using Piscifun reels paired with Pro Angler rods, so you'll feel every bite and have the control to work these fish properly. For bait, we've got LS Slabs and LS Crappie Plastics – proven lures that Brandon's tested extensively. This isn't about luck; it's about using the right tools and techniques to consistently catch fish.
"We had a ball for my hunny's 40th birthday. Brandon made sure we caught a good amount of fish. Will be back!" - Taneisha
"Captain Brandon is the man!! My son uses a wheelchair, and Captain Brandon, made sure we was secure, and comfortable at all times. It was too windy for the fish we were going for, so Brandon put us on white bass, and hybrid, and we had a blast. We had an exceptional experience with Captain Brandon, and will be scheduling another trip soon." - Curtis
"This was a great trip. My friend and I are experienced fisherman, but we wanted to see how the real professionals catch crappie. And boy did we learn. That was a great experience. Caught big crappie and in the Brandon cleaned and bagged them all as well. Already planning on going back for the White Bass lessons!!!!" - Mark
Crappie are hands down one of the best eating fish you'll find in freshwater, and they're a blast to catch once you understand their behavior. These fish are schooling species, so when you find one, you're likely sitting on top of dozens more. They're structure-oriented, hanging around submerged trees, brush piles, and drop-offs where they can ambush small baitfish. Spring and fall are prime times when they move shallow for spawning or feeding, but skilled guides like Brandon know how to locate them year-round in deeper water using electronics. Crappie have paper-thin mouths, so the fight is all about finesse – you can't just horse them in like a bass. That's part of what makes them so fun to target. A good crappie runs 10-14 inches, but the real slabs can push 15-16 inches and weigh over two pounds. When you hook into a big one, you'll know it immediately by the way they pull and the head shakes they throw. The best part? Take home a cooler full and you've got some of the finest fish fillets you'll ever taste – mild, flaky, and perfect for the dinner table.
Brandon's confidence in this trip shows – if we don't put you on fish, your next trip is free. That's not something you hear from guides who aren't sure about their game. The base price covers 2 anglers, with room to add a third if your group needs it. Fish cleaning is handled, so you just focus on the fishing and go home with fillets ready for the pan. Since crappie behavior changes with weather and seasons, Brandon recommends touching base before you book to make sure conditions are right. Deposits are non-refundable, so plan accordingly, but with reviews like these and Brandon's track record, you're looking at a solid investment in a great day on the water. Whether you're celebrating a birthday, teaching kids to fish, or just want to learn from a pro, this half-day crappie trip delivers exactly what serious anglers are looking for.

Had a great time fishing with my son who was visiting from University. We booked a morning trip and Brandon did a great job getting us to the right locations quickly to catch fish. When the fish were not cooperating, we moved on to a different location. This was the first time I fished using using Livescope, and Brandon explained what we were looking at and how to pull fish out of the schools we were seeing. Overall great trip, very comfortable boat and great guiding!
